Snake Breadsticks

Snake Breadsticks

A great compliment to Spaghetti and Eyeballs, these spooky snakes are delicious!

Yields 12 Servings
  • 1 packet of yeast
  • 2/3 c. warm water
  • 4 Tbsp. oil
  • 2 2/3 c. flour
  • 1 Tbsp. Firebee Raw Honey
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • wooden skewers
  • food coloring
  • candy eyeballs
  • 1 tsp. frosting

Step 1

In the bowl of a stand mixer, add in the warm water, Firebee Raw Honey, and yeast. Stir to combine and then allow to sit for about 5 minutes or until the mixture becomes foamy.

Step 2

Add in the oil, flour, and salt and mix using the dough hook. Mix until the dough is smooth and pulls away from the sides of the bowl.

Step 3

Place into an oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Place in a warm area to rise for about an hour, or until it has doubled in size.

Step 4

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees and line a sheet pan with parchment paper. Remove from the bowl and divide into 12 equal parts.

Step 5

Roll them out into snakes about 12 inches long. Take a skewer and wrap around it, tapering the tail to a point and flattening out a portion for the head. Place the twisted breadstick (and the skewer) onto the sheet pan.

Step 6

Mix up about a tablespoon of water with your choice of food coloring and brush onto the snakes before baking. You can add lines, spots, or any other design you like using the gel coloring straight from the tube.

Step 7

Bake the snakes for 15 minutes or until golden. Allow to cool and then remove the skewers. Attach the candy eyes using a tiny bit of frosting and enjoy!
