Soft Pretzel Bites
There's nothing like a soft, warm pretzel from the mall - now you can make them at home!
Ingredients
- 1 packet of active yeast
- 1 c. warm water
- 1/4 c. Firebee Raw Honey
- 3 c. flour
- 1 1/4 tsp. salt
- 6 c. water
- 3 Tbsp. baking soda
- 1 large egg
- coarse salt
Instructions
Step 1
In the bowl of a stand mixer, add the yeast, warm water, and Firebee Honey. Mix it together and allow it to sit for about 10 minutes, or until frothy.
Step 2
Add in the flour and salt and then mix, using the dough hook, for about 4-5 minutes, or until the dough pulls away from the sides.
Step 3
Cover the dough and place it into a warm spot until it has doubled in size, about 1 hour. Punch it down and allow it to rest for an additional half hour.
Step 4
Heat the oven to 450 degrees and while it is heating, bring the 6 cups of water and 3 tablespoons of baking soda to a boil.
Step 5
Cut the dough into 4 equal pieces and roll into 12 inch logs. Cut those into 8 pieces each and place into the boiling water for about 45 seconds. You will need to work in batches.
Step 6
Place the dough onto a parchment lined sheet pan. Whisk the egg and brush onto the pretzel bites before sprinkling with salt. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown and enjoy!
