Spicy Chicken Fried Chicken
Down home cooking at its finest! Firebee Spicy Honey adds a nice kick to these chicken fried chicken breasts.
Ingredients
- 6 thin sliced chicken breasts
- 2 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. pepper
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 2 Tbsp. Firebee Spicy Honey
- 1 egg
- Oil for frying
- 1/4 c. reserved oil from frying
- 1/3 c. flour
- 2 c. milk
- salt & pepper to taste
Instructions
Step 1
Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pan on the stove (a few inches deep). While the oil is heating, whisk together your flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
Step 2
In another bowl, combine buttermilk, Firebee Spicy Honey, and egg.
Step 3
Dip your chicken in the flour mixture and then into the egg mixture, then back into the flour mixture again. Press down on the flour to ensure it is stuck to the chicken well.
Step 4
Place into the hot oil and fry on each side for 3-5 minutes or until golden brown. Be careful when flipping so you don't lose the fantastic, crispy coating! Remove and drain on paper towels while you make your gravy.
Step 5
To make your gravy, remove all but 1/4 cup of the oil from the pan. Add in the flour and stir until it is absorbed and cook for about a minute. Stir in your milk, whisking to blend and heat until thickened. Add more milk if necessary to reach desired consistency.
Step 6
Salt and pepper to taste and pour over individual chicken to serve.
