Sweet Honey Lemon Chicken

A sweet and crispy dish with an Asian flair, this dish beats take out any night of the week! 

Ingredients

Yields 4 Servings
  • 1 lb. chicken thighs, cut into cubes
  • 1/3 c. cornstarch
  • 1/2 c. canola oil
  • 3 tsp. minced garlic
  • 1 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes
  • green onions - optional
Honey Lemon Sauce
  • 1/2 c. Firebee Raw Honey
  • 2 Tbsp. soy sauce (or coconut aminos)
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced
  • zest of one lemon
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch

Instructions

Step 1

In a large ziplock bag, toss the chicken cubes with the cornstarch so that every piece is coated. Set aside.

Step 2

Add all of the honey lemon sauce ingredients into a bowl and mix together. Set aside.

Step 3

Add the oil to a large pan and heat on medium heat. Once the oil is heated, add the chicken in batches and fry until golden brown.

Step 4

Remove the chicken from the pan, reserving one tablespoon of oil. Add the garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes to the oil and cook on low heat for about 30 seconds, until the garlic is fragrant. 

Step 5

Add the chicken back in and toss. Stir up the sauce and pour over the chicken. Stir the chicken to coat it well and allow it to cook until thickened - about 1-2 minutes. 

Step 6

Serve honey lemon chicken over rice and garnish with green onions if desired.
